UK Cops Too Busy Playing Poker to Help Man...
As much as we love poker there comes a time when you should simply put down the cards and go to work. This is never more applicable than when work involves being a member of the emergency services...
So it's no wonder Graham Hall was a little shocked when he went to the local police station (Thames Valley) to report a burgularly, only to be greeted by a security guard asking, "are you here for the poker?". Of course, tempting as it may have been to say yes and beat a load of coppers, Mr Hall was more determined to try and catch those responsible for breaking into his house. Unfortunately for Mr Hall, he was told that the case was "not an emergency" and that he was to ring a phone number to report the crime. This prompted Mr Hall to say; "I told him I’d come to report a crime, but he said I couldn’t do it there. I was flabbergasted..."
So the morale of story: ring a call centre if you've had a crime committed against you and visit your local police station/casino for a poker game...
