WPT Star, Ernie Scherer, Accused of Double Murder
We all know poker can sometimes be a frustrating game, and that bad beats can really drive you mad, but...Double murder? Well, WPT Star, Ernie Scherer, stands accused of murdering both his parents and is being held without bail in a Las Vegas prison.
Police described the murders as "brutal" and are asking for witnesses to come forward. Speculation abounds as to the motives for the murders Scherer's been implicated for, and Rough Guide to Poker refuses to add or purport any more, but police raided his address prior to the arrest, prompting speculation that firm evidence implicating Scherer was found at the scene. We'll be watching the case develop and will report the very latest here.
Scherer is one of poker's best players, racking up impressive results, including a 7th place on the World Poker Tour, Las Vegas 2005.
