Jens Kyllonen wins EPT Copenhagen 2009
The young Finn, Jens Kyllonen, flies to victory in the EPT Copenhagen, becomming one of poker's youngest players to win a major event. The entire EPT was frought with amazing poker, with a real mix of styles and various texas holdem strategies employed, and, of course, the standard Scaninavian aggression. The final came down to a heads-up (a one on one situation) between Jens and the Swede Peter Hedlund, with Jens besting Peter in a fascinating contest that saw the winner take home €878,000 (the Rough Guide to Poker team is sufficiently jealous, rest assured).
The EPT is reknown for its aggressive Scandinavian players and often produces surprise winners and, obviously, this year was no exception. This young generation of Finns, Swedes and Danes were brought-up on the online game, where agressive action and table banter are common. They bring it all to table at the offline events and make moves few would dare to do in these huge offline poker tournaments. It all makes for some intense, high chip hands of poker.
