Poor Showing For London Poker Circuit
After all the fanfare, media attention and promises of attendance the likes of which haven't been seen since Biblical times, the London Poker Circuit was a bit of damp squid.
The player numbers were simply low, depsite some big names in attendance. 18. yes, a mere 18 players took to the felt at the Kensington Close Hotel. The LPC could have booked the sandwich shop next door rather than a hotel, but there you go...Anyway, the quality was good, with the lineup including the likes of Stuart "TrickyRock" Rutter (see his poker blog), Joe Grech, James Akenhead and the LCP event winner, Sam Trickett. Sam won a tidy £8,500 for battling all day - okay, all through his lunch break - to beat the other players.
If he wanted a bigger player base to compete against then he should have tried his hand at the GUKPT event that was running simultaneously at The Victoria Casino. Maybe the LCP should consider not running an event in direct competiton with an established tournament? Just a suggestion...The GUKPT winner was Thomas MacDonald and Sunny Chatta second. Well done to both Thomas and Sam for their wins in the capital.
