WSOP Change Starting Chip Amount for 2009
WSOP (World Series of Poker) has been criticsed over recent years, with players arguing that the starting chip amounts don't offer enough poker action for their buck. WSOP players are now set to receive triple their buy-in amount, which equates to 30,00 chips.
Jack Effel, the director of the WSOP Tournament , said; “At 2x chips, players didn’t feel like they got a lot of play in the smaller events. With 3x chips, you can play around with the structure and add more levels. It's a very competitive industry with a lot of poker tournaments moving to a deep stack format. However, putting on a successful event is difficult unless you really understand the math behind it." Effel concluded, "It gives players plenty of game for their money.”
We'll have more on the WSOP throughout the year, so be sure to check back soon.
